Our team is full of quality team members! Keeping up with our tradition of introducing you to our awesome team at K and G Cycles; here is Cara Bosco. You’ll be chatting with her on Facebook and Twitter!

Name: Cara Marie Bosco

What positions do you play on the K and G team? I spend hours on Facebook and Twitter! I chat, tweet, post, and share product news and funny stuff. ; ) I also post updates on Google+ and our blogs. If you Like our page or comment on the blog, we’ll be chatting soon! We recently added a Pinterest page to the mix, so check that out too!

Where are you from? I’m from Plymouth, Michigan. It’s a beautiful little city west of Detroit in the burbs. I grew up on a non-working farm and had a ton of fun adventures there. More recently, I lived in East Lansing, Michigan where I attended Michigan State University.

Tell us a little bit about your family. I have a great family! My mom, dad and brother are in Michigan. I’m very close with my extended family, as well as my immediate family. I’m 100% Italian so that means we have some awesome family parties!

Favorite Quote: “Luck to me is something else: Hard work- and realizing what is opportunity and what isn’t.” -Lucille Ball

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life? Graduating from college was a big deal! (It still is.) I graduated in 2011 with a degree in acting and psychology. I had to take classes year round to graduate on time with two majors. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it!

What is your favorite place in the entire world? It’s a tie between Walloon Lake in northern Michigan and the little town in Italy where my grandfather lived, Pofi. I grew up going to Walloon Lake during the summer and winter months. We were always in the lake or hitting the slopes ! I was able to visit Pofi with my grandfather and mother several years ago and walked through the town in the mountains that my grandfather called home before he came to the United States. It was a surreal experience seeing the school that my gramps often ditched and having him point out all of the hiding spots he used to cut out of class early. I hope to go back to Pofi in the near future!

What is your favorite thing about K and G Cycles? I love that I get to learn so much about motorcycles and the people riding them! It’s great being able to communicate with motorcycle lovers on a daily basis through the very fun social mediums of Facebook, Twitter, and the blogs. There are almost 8,000 people that are fans of K and G Cycles on Facebook… I think that says a lot about a company. They are well-loved by their customers!

Hardly Davidson: a Bright Red Honda Story

Here on the Metric Motorcycle Blog we want to showcase rides and styles from all over the world. I’m choosing today to post up pics of my long-time love The Shadow.

This bike started out as a 1997 Honda Shadow 1100 ACE edition. This pic shows the same paint scheme including the whitewalls.

I bought it in 1999 and proceeded to run the wheels off the thing everywhere I went.

Then one evening riding a side-road around construction; a left turn and gravel on the intersection sent me down Hard!

Thankfully I was okay, but the bike had some serious bruises.

A few days later, I took it down to the local body shop where they knew a thing or two about customizing bikes. In fact owner, Dan Burnett, had some very cool products and projects in the works.

Turns out, he knew my Dad growing up and wanted to help out this kid and his smashed up bike. Lucky Me!

Dan’s ideas really were the driving force behind rebuilding The Shadow into the head-turner it became.

He just asked that I give him plenty of time and freedom to play with the thing and I would end up happy :)

Take a look at the transformation here.

Danny was already selling these custom FL style extended fiberglass fenders. He fitted up the front with little problem. The rear he had to split, widen and create a whole new mold, to accept the 180 rear tire.

Then after massaging the bashed up tank, he painted everything a Dodge Viper Red. Our local pinstripe guy put on the subtle red-orange color and hand-lettered the tank too.

Dan saw something in the lines and look of the Honda that has made it an eye catcher ever since.

The longshot pipes really sound good with the single-pin crank style of this Honda motor. It does shake and th-th-thump with a more characteristic sound than most rice burners.

Over the years I’ve heard all kinds of compliments and cases of mistaken identity. “Nice Harley” and “Isn’t that an Indian?” being the most common. Go Figure!

Thanks again Dan Burnette. From me and my Dad!

Do you ever wonder if there is a real human being on the other end of your online parts order? Here at K and G Cycles, you can be sure there is. Most of the time, Tom Vaughan is handling your questions and matching you up with the items you need for your bike.

In between phone calls and all his other duties, he had a chance to answer some questions for us. Here they are!

Your Name
Tom Vaughan

What positions do you play on the K and G Team?
Customer Support Manager is my title but it goes way beyond that.  I handle the shipping and receiving as order placement with the various vendors.  There is always so IT work that needs done so I get my share of that as well.

Where are you from?
I grew up in West Central Iowa (About 60 miles from Omaha, Nebraska) and moved all over the country until 1991 when I moved to Indiana and stayed.

Tell us a bit about your family.
I grew up in a home in a very small town (we had 26 in my graduating class).  I am the oldest of 4 kids.  My dad was a meat cutter at the Oscar Meyer Plant there for 20 Years and was also the “Best Mechanic Around” He Drove and maintained Super Modified Stock Cars way back before NASCAR was a big deal so I grew up with a wrench in my hand.  I learned mechanics at a very early age and just loved to take things apart.  I had some trouble at first putting them back together but when I finally succeeded my dad was really pretty proud.  I joined the Air Force after High School and decided I wanted to be an Aircraft Mechanic and from there to Aviation Maintenance School and then on to the airlines where I spent 20 years as a mechanic, and finally a Maintenance Manager for the airline I was working for.  My first ride on a motorcycle was when I was about 12, I hopped on my buddies 125 and promptly balled myself up.  Being the person I am I continued to ride and the first bike I owned was an 850 Suzuki, great bike.  I got married and had kids so there went that.  I got a 1200 Gold Wing later on and was hooked.  After a back injury I was sidelined and I sold that when the kids wouldn’t stay off of it and kept knocking it over.  I just couldn’t pick it up myself anymore.  I have since healed and am really itching to get back in the saddle.  As a mechanic I would love to find a “basket case” and build what I want, it just hasn’t happened yet.

What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?
Have fun while you’re alive, you’ll be dead a long time.  I don’t know who wrote it but it stuck.

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life?
I don’t know.  I raised a family, happy and healthy and we get along.  I guess that’s pretty big.

What’s your favorite place in the entire world?
Haven’t found it yet.  I keep finding better places.  I love wild and rough country so anywhere like that will do.

What is your favorite thing about K and G Cycles?
I think my favorite thing about K and G is that fact that I have been part of it since it was born and have had a hand in every part of it at some time.  It changes and grows and sometimes just makes you madder than hell but that’s part of it too.  I like being able to change and grow along with it.

We have the best team in the business! Leslie Boswell is another reason why. Once again, wearing many hats is the hallmark of our staff. We think serving our customers well is kinduvabigdeal!!

Please take time to meet Leslie and hear all about her in her own words:

Where do I start!

My name is Leslie Boswell and I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana

I would have to say that being a wife, mother and grandmother are my favorite accomplishments.

My favorite place in the world would have to be work. $$$  Oh u mean outside of work? Well, let’s see. San Antonio, TX where my favorite people in the world are; My Family!

Like all of us here at K and G, I have many different responsibilities… most of the time, they include: customer service, data entry, sales, shipping, even production.  I do it all…

Before kandgcycles, I didn’t know anything about motorcycles. Kevin and Tom have taught me a lot and, of course, I’m still learning.

K andgcycles is the best job I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. Very relaxing and laid back environment.

Looking forward to the future with k and g cycles.

My Favorite quote is:  “Don’t quit until the job is completed.”
